Monthly Archives: June 2012
Hi there. It’s been a while. Actually, it’s been a LONG while since I’ve updated this blog. Sorry!
I’ll keep it short and give you some quick stats:
- Since the last update (April 19), I have run 353.4 miles as marathon training continues
- April 28: Ran the Frisco Railroad Half Marathon in 02:15:45. It was BRUTAL. The entire course was gravel and was a straight line (6.5mi there and back +.1mi).
- May 5: Ran the May Day 5K in 00:25:58, which was a new PERSONAL RECORD! I beat my best time by 2min 35sec.
- Included in the 353.4mi are 3 different 20 mile runs – all completed in under 4 hours.
I also went on vacation with Jamie to Italy. I didn’t run at all and you know what? It felt great! I’m back in the swing of things this week, running a 20-miler on this past Sunday and 10mi yesterday.
What has me energized again? I got new shoes! The guys at Finish Line got me set up with a new pair of Asics Nimbus Gel 13’s and some synthetic socks. I was skeptical of the socks at first (about $15/pair), but they’ve made a huge difference.
Marathon day is creeping up: according to my ticker on RunKeeper, it’s just a little more than 129 days away. Until then, I’m taking it easy, running as scheduled, listening to my body when it hurts, and fueling as needed.
Have a great week!
